Innovation at Canoe

VALUE EXTRACTION

We choose the highest quality fibre available.

  • Forest to finished product – Canoe Forest Products uses technology and techniques to utilize every part of the log and make a “Quality Proud” panel.
  • Bark to chips – everything is extracted and saved for further use in other industries.
  • XY scanners to automated drying – we are always looking to reinvest in new technology.

We continually monitor each process beginning with the logging right through to processing the plywood.  We are always looking for improvements in safety, recovery, and production.

1. Logs are first debarked and cut into 102” lengths. They then move into a vat to be heated to around 100 degrees Celsius for optimal efficiency when being peeled at the lathe.

2. Everything is monitored at the lathe. The XY scanner uses advanced line-scanning laser sensors for superior round up, increased recovery, and increased production.

3. After being dried, the veneer goes through our grade scanner which is able to almost instantly identify the exact length, width, moisture content and grade of each sheet for proper sorting.

4. Our finished product after being trimmed and, if needed, repaired.  Ready for use in commercial, industrial, or residential applications.
